Soup's on

Val, it's time to eat. Are you ready for soup?

"Um, no not yet. I'm reading."

Well it's ready for you!

"OK, let me get a spoon!" She ditched her library book and ran for the silverware drawer.

I wonder if bedtime would go differently if I tell her the bed is ready for her. =)
