Love grows

I got this rose on February 6 at a Valentines party. The flower long since died but I was intrigued to see three little buds sprout and try to grow. So, I plunked it into the ground to see what would happen. I thought it was especially ironic that the party hostess had tied quotes about love around each rose and mine said, "Love is the flower you've got to let grow." John Lennon

So I let the flower grow.

UPDATE: Jackson has since trampled the rose stick. I'm disappointed and kicking myself for not thinking of protecting it better.

Block

This will be incorporated into a big quilt for Mr. and Mrs. Blades. The only thing I did was choose the pattern and the fabric and cut the little fabric squares. My mother did all sewing. I like the pattern because it's symbolic of their lives coming together to make the most beautiful color of all (blue.) Mistablades loves green, his fiance loves yellow and when they're mixed it makes blue! Yay!

Cat napping

This has a very Calvin & Hobbes feel to me.

Game

Actual, photographic evidence that games were played on game night. FINALLY.

Crash

Elaine was underfoot, quickly undoing all she could as we cleaned up for game night. Superman plopped her down in a recliner and that was the end. Very unlike her, but when she woke up I discovered she had come down with a cold.

Thanksgiving in February!

My SuperMIL came over last night to keep me company while Superman worked and we spent a few hours today cooking a Thanksgiving meal together. The poor lady never did have a daughter to pass down all her super-yummy cooking tricks to, so I volunteered. Heaven (and Superman) knows I need all the help I can get!

I can't imagine a better mother in law. Really. I have the best one - I don't care what you say.

We are enjoying garlic mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon and onions, stuffing (made with all my homemade bread ends and crusts!) and gravy. The roasted chicken was still cooking.

Illuminated

See this? These are the finger prints on my back door. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved that I could see them when the glorious sun broke through in the late afternoon and sent warm, slanting sunlight through the family room and kitchen. GET HERE SOON, SUMMER.

The chandelier

I am running out of creative pictures, especially while it's raining. I may have to learn more about my camera before the year is up. I dare say it's about time.

This is a chandelier that hangs in the dining room.

A girl and her cat

Although Val will be the first to tell you that Tesla is HER cat. I'm continually amazed at Tesla's patience and acceptance of the kids' treatment. She makes no effort to move or hide from them, and will keep coming back for more well-intentioned but sometimes too rough attention.

Calorie hunt

In my effort to gain weight and get my BMI back into respectable territory (I must say, feeling sick with anxiety did me no favors in the eating healthily department. Or the eating department, actually) I've been looking for ways to up my daily caloric intake.

I find chips and queso do the trick quite nicely, since we're out of ice cream. Only 6 more pounds!
