It took me two or three times to figure out that Kate's bloodcurdling screams immediately after placing her in her crib meant she wanted to snuggle for a few minutes first. If you've been following along you understand my surprise and utter shock because Kate has never ever required this before. Snuggle? SURE I'll snuggle you, baby! We have nine months of snuggling to catch up on!
I scoop her back up and we stand and sway together or sit and rock and, get this, she puts her head on my shoulder and buries her face in my neck. I press my cheek up against her warm soft head. I know. Shocking. We do this for five whole minutes and then I gently return her to the crib. No screaming. Nothing. She squirms around and closes her eyes, content after having been snuggled. I leave the room.
SCORE! My baby snuggles! I only had to wait nine months but it happened. I'm loving this.
