As a late Mother's Day present I got to watch my baby get stabbed in the leg(s) four times today. I dare say if I was given four shots I would be in a far worse mood than Kate has been. She's been completely angelic, considering. Of course she cried as she got the vaccinations but calmed down once I picked her up and then fell asleep on the way home.
She stayed asleep for five hours, woke up to socialize and nurse and is now back down again. No more fussing than usual, no screams of agony, nothing. She was smiley and cooing and 'talking' up a storm. I did give her some Tylenol (per Dr. recommendation) just in case she hurts during the night.
She weighs a whopping (average, actually) 11 lbs. 12 oz. and is a mere 22.5 inches long, which is also average but still an inch and a half away from her daddy's length the day he was born! I'm a bit surprised she isn't longer given her parents' genetics, but if she wants to be average that's completely fine with me. Maybe she'll be able to buy jeans at any old store instead of just the ones that offer long sizes or inseams longer than 32"!
Here she is, as of a few minutes ago:
EDIT: I just looked up a growth chart, printed it and entered Kate's info and near as I can tell she isn't average after all. If I did it correctly, her weight is between the 75th and 90th percentile and length is right on the 75th percentile. Perhaps the charts differ. I'm not at all concerned about anything, I'm just curious. Maybe the Dr. didn't read the chart very carefully as there were other distracting things going on. The fire alarm did go off during our visit. Which was fun (not.)
